   5    <code class="command">CLOSE</code> frees the resources associated with an open cursor.
   6    After the cursor is closed, no subsequent operations
   7    are allowed on it. A cursor should be closed when it is
   8    no longer needed.

  10    Every non-holdable open cursor is implicitly closed when a
  11    transaction is terminated by <code class="command">COMMIT</code> or
  12    <code class="command">ROLLBACK</code>.  A holdable cursor is implicitly
  13    closed if the transaction that created it aborts via
  14    <code class="command">ROLLBACK</code>.  If the creating transaction
  15    successfully commits, the holdable cursor remains open until an
  16    explicit <code class="command">CLOSE</code> is executed, or the client
  17    disconnects.

  24    <code class="command">OPEN</code> cursor statement; a cursor is considered
  25    open when it is declared.  Use the
  26    <a class="link" href="sql-declare.html" title="DECLARE"><code class="command">DECLARE</code></a>
  27    statement to declare a cursor.
