45 In addition to the system catalogs, PostgreSQL provides a number of
46 built-in views. Some system views provide convenient access to some
47 commonly used queries on the system catalogs. Other views provide
48 access to internal server state.
50 The information schema (Chapter 35) provides an alternative set of
51 views which overlap the functionality of the system views. Since the
52 information schema is SQL-standard whereas the views described here are
53 PostgreSQL-specific, it's usually better to use the information schema
54 if it provides all the information you need.
